You spray on your favorite perfume, spend a while thinking what you're going to wear, paint your nails, and feel slightly nervous when he says he's waiting outside.
It's the butterflies when you're getting to know someone new.
And it's awesome.
These brownies are fun to make with someone new. They're delicious and loaded with cookies and cream goodness.
Cookies and cream brownies
Adapted from Two Peas and Their Pod
Makes One 9-inch round pan of brownies
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup sugar
½ cup unsweetend cocoa powder
¼ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
⅓ cup chocolate chips
⅓ cup Hershey's Cookies & Cream chocolate, chopped
⅓ cup canola oil
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup crushed Oreos* (I used 12)
Preheat the oven to 350F with rack in the center. Lightly grease the bottom and sides of a 9-inch round cake pan (I used springform).
In a medium mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add in the chocolate chips and chopped Cookies & Cream chocolate. Whisk until combined.
In a separate, smaller mixing bowl, mix together the oil, eggs, and vanilla with a fork until just blended. Pour the liquid mixture over the dry mixture and stir with a rubber spatula until just incorporated. Stir in the crushed Oreos.
Press the mixture (it will be a little dry) into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out with just a few gooey pieces clinging to it. Let cool on a wire rack.
*Note: To crush the Oreos, I find it's easiest to put them in a large ziplock bag (freezer style), seal the bag, and crush them by rolling a rolling pin over them.
